Renowned entrepreneur, business magnate, philanthropist and chancellor of the University of Education Winneba, Alhaji Asuma Banda has appealed to the government of Ghana to prioritize job opportunities for graduates.
According to him, allowing students to work while schooling would help them gain experience in the job market before graduation.
This he said would curb the teeming graduate unemployment in the country.
He said this during the 21st congregation of the University of Education over the weekend where a total number of 8, 578 students graduated
Reading the valedictory speech, the 2016 overall best graduating student, Yaya Kweku Antwi appealed to the government to lift the employment embargo on public sector in order to employ the thousands of graduates.
“We would like to plead with the government to, in the short term, lift the embargo on employment. In the long term, however, government should consider an automatic placement for UEW Product, since teachers are needed all over the country,” he lamented.
