Issues at the Electoral Commission have been raging since last week with divergent views on how the matter should be resolved.
The President has fowarded the petition to impeach the EC chairperson to the Chief Justice.
On GBC’s Current Affairs Programme Talking Point, a research fellow at IDEG, Clara Berri said developments at the EC are clear indicators that the country’s institutions are not working and it is time they are made to work.
Governance Expert Fred Awaah said the impasse vindicates the UNDP’s recommendations for reforms at the EC which the Commission failed to adhere to.
Another Governance expert Dr. Eric Oduro Osae said the disturbance at the EC is an opportunity to purge the whole Commission.
He said the responses and counter responses from the heirarchy at the EC confirms the corrupt and poor leadership perception of the public about the EC.
